  • County Prevention Dashboard
    The California Department of Social Services - Office of Child Abuse Prevention is working to prevent Californian children from abuse and neglect by offering assistance to counties and stakeholders to identify needs and strengths in child maltreatment prevention. For primary and secondary prevention planning purposes, the OCAP County Prevention Dashboard was developed to track data on major risk and protective factors, social determinants of health, and early stages of child welfare involvement.

  • Continuum of Care Reform (CCR) - refers to legislation that seeks to comprehensively transform placement and treatment options for youth in foster care. Assembly Bill 403 provides statutory and policy framework to ensure services and supports provided to children and families are tailored toward maintaining a stable permanent family with limited reliance on congregate care.   • SOGIE and the CWS -- This groundbreaking publication is a product of the Putting Pride into Practice Project, a project of Family Builders by Adoption to help child welfare professionals better serve LGBT children and youth in foster care. These guidelines provide much-needed direction to child welfare agencies on how best to collect, record, and disclose information on the sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression of children, and will help agencies identify, track, and assess the needs and outcomes of LGBT children and youth.

  • ExtraordinaryFamilies -- a nonprofit foster family, adoption, and advocacy agency dedicated to improving the daily lives and long-term outcomes of children and youth in foster care. http://www.extraordinaryfamilies.org was created through the merger of the Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency (SCFFAA) and the Child Welfare Initiative (CWI). It is a both a direct provider of services to foster children, and a children’s policy organization.

  • The Community Opportunity Map, developed by Casey Family Programs, is an interactive tool that maps community indicators at geographic levels defined by the user, from the state level down to neighborhoods. This resource highlights community factors correlated with child maltreatment and is available for everyone.

    The California Child Welfare Indicators Project is pleased to partner with the Annie E. Casey Foundation as a KIDS COUNT Outreach Partner.
    The KIDS COUNT Data Book calls for improvements to the nation’s ability to design and evaluate programs and policies aimed at the needs of children and families living in poverty. In addition, the KIDS COUNT Data Book is complemented by an online and mobile-friendly Data Center http://datacenter.kidscount.org that contains hundreds of measures of child well-being covering national, state, county, and city information. Visitors to the website can access customizable graphs and geographic profiles on education, economic well-being, the number of children in immigrant families, health, and many more topics.”
